Dana Adobe Cultural Center to Celebrate Blessing of the Animals
Dana Adobe Cultural Center’s Blessing of the Animals
NIPOMO, CA- On October 4, people all over the world will be celebrating the feast day of the Patron Saint of Animals, Saint Francis of Assisi. It's customary that in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi's love for all creatures, animals are led to churches for a special ceremony called the “Blessing of the Animals.” Join Dana Adobe at the Dana Adobe Cultural Center as Father Miguel from St. Joseph’s Church in Nipomo blesses your pets in the Cultural Center’s North Courtyard. This event is a non-denominational event, meaning every one, every religion, and every pet is welcome. We please ask the following: All pets must be well behaved and on NON retractable leashes, in pet carriers, strollers, or in your arms as long as there will not be risk of running away. Please remember that ALL animals may be in attendance and be mindful of others and their pets, keep small "prey" animals in enclosed carriers or cages please. If a pet cannot be transported or is unable to attend, a photograph can be blessed instead. Children are also welcome to bring stuffed animal toys for a blessing.
Followed by a complimentary reception, donations appreciated featuring animal treats and water for pets; plus beverages and light snacks for their humans.
